Kumana National Park, formerly known as Yala East, is one of the most important bird sanctuaries in Sri Lanka and a hidden treasure for nature lovers.

The Kumana Bird Sanctuary within the park is a renowned nesting and breeding ground for large flocks of migratory and resident birds. The mangrove swamp attracts thousands of birds between April and July.
